La Pólvora Fortress

Built between 1748 - 1749, with the objective of defending the city, which at that time was a strategic point for its connection with the lake and the Caribbean of Nicaragua. In this place, of Spanish medieval style, Gunpowder was stored, but later it was used as military barracks. currently the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity, through the Mayor's Office of the Citizen Power of Granada, has rehabilitated this building, turning it into a real space to approach the recent history. 💡Curiosities: Inside the Old Fortress "La Pólvora", you can appreciate the old wooden barrels in which gunpowder was stored, as well as the historic abobe walls that reflect the antiquity of the Grenadian constructions, without missing the tile roof and the beautiful corridor that leads us to the four towers that are located in each corner of the fortress.
